A Sample Consignment Agreement

You can use this consignment agreement as a working draft for your shop. This agreement is for a clothing store, but can be adapted for other kinds of consignment shops.

How to Consign with Us

Because Store Name is a small business with limited staff, we can not offer walk-in consignment intake reviews, but you are welcome to make an appointment with us by calling 111-1111. We have weekly intake review appointments at 11am to 1pm on Thursdays, but you must call ahead to reserve a half-hour to one hour slot.

At your appointment, you can bring in up to 12 items for consideration. All items must be clean, ironed and hung. Any tears, stains or defects should be marked with a safety pin. We will deduct a $2.50 fee for any item that needs to be ironed, and a $5 handling fee plus dry cleaning charges for any item that needs to be dry cleaned.

We offer a 60 day consignment period. Items may be discounted after 30 days at our discretion. Store Name only takes on items we believe will sell within the 60 day period. Because this can affect seasonal items, please consider the seasonality of the items you bring to us.

We will choose the prices your items are sold for based on past sales and current demand from our customers. We strive to set good prices for both our customers and consignors. We offer a 50% in trade and 40% cash value to consignors on all items sold. Trade can be used up to a year after the sale of one of your items. Checks for cash value can be picked up Wednesdays from 4:30 to 6:30pm after your 60 day consignment period has ended.

It is your responsibility to notify us before the 60th day if you intend to pick up any of your unsold items. You must make an appointment to collect your unsold items. We are a small, busy store and can not accomodate walk-ins. Please do not call the store to check if any of your items have sold. If you want to check on the status of your items, please come in on Wednesdays between 4:30pm and 6:30pm and be prepared to wait. There is only one staff member available at that time to help consignors and you may not be first in line.

If you do not contact us within one calendar week of the end of your 60 day consignment period, your items become the property of Store Name. Proceeds from the sale of these unclaimed items go to Store Name.

We are not responsible for damage, theft or loss of your items.

When you are ready to consign with us, please give us a call at 111-1111. We look forward to seeing you soon.
